What Was Sertec’s Role?

Sertec led the transformation of its Coleshill facility with a bold £7 million investment, anchored by the installation of a state-of-the-art 800T Nidec Arisa Press. This strategic move enhances our stamping capabilities, increases production efficiency, and supports the evolving needs of our OEM and Tier 1 customers in automotive and adjacent sectors.

The press itself is a game changer—designed to operate in progression, transfer, or hybrid modes, it offers flexibility and precision. Its advanced automation and pre-set functions dramatically reduce changeover times, enabling faster coil and tool changeovers and supporting high-mix, high-volume production environments.

This investment directly aligns with key trends in the automotive sector, including:

  • Lightweighting and material efficiency, where precision stamping is critical to forming complex geometries with minimal waste.
  • Electrification, supporting the production of EV components like battery cases and busbars with tight tolerances and repeatable quality.

What Was the Biggest Engineering Challenge?

Installing a press of this scale was a feat of coordination and engineering. Delivered in 14 separate loads, the project required 160 contractors and over 16,000 hours of preparation. The challenge wasn’t just physical—it was about embedding future-ready automation and versatility into our stamping process.

How did we overcome these challenges?
