Pressings and Assembly

We stand as a leading global specialist in high-speed precision pressings and assembled components, empowering a diverse range of industries with unparalleled quality and efficiency.

With over 60 years of experience, we’ve continuously invested in our pressing and assembly capabilities, cutting-edge equipment, and most importantly, our people.

This long-standing commitment includes significant investment in state-of-the-art facilities and processes, enabling us to adapt immediately to evolving market demands and challenges. Whether it’s mastering new materials or responding to the urgent need for lightweighting in modern industries, we are always solution-focused, ensuring we fulfil our partners’ diverse needs in stampings, assemblies.

Our Evolving Capabilities

Our pressing and stamping capabilities are engineered to meet the evolving needs of our customers by combining advanced technology, material versatility, and a commitment to precision and sustainability. We operate a comprehensive range of servo-driven presses with capacities from 200T to 1000T, enabling us to handle a wide spectrum of component sizes and complexities. Our facilities are equipped to support both progression and transfer press operations, ensuring flexibility in production volumes and part geometries.

We work with a diverse portfolio of materials including high-strength steels, mild and coated steels, aluminium, high-strength aluminium, copper, and stainless steel. This allows us to support lightweighting initiatives, structural integrity, and conductivity requirements across automotive and industrial applications. The use of servo drive technology enhances our ability to maintain tight tolerances and repeatability, which is important for safety-critical and aesthetically sensitive components.

To further align with our customers’ sustainability goals, we are committed to a closed-loop material management principle, ensuring that scrap is segregated and returned by grade. This not only supports environmental responsibility but also contributes to cost efficiency and traceability.

Our ultimate goal is always “Right First Time” and this is a fundamental principle embedded in every stage of our pressing and assembly processes. We invest heavily in optimising all our operations – from sophisticated simulation techniques, integrated automated assembly, and state-of-the-art automated inspection systems. This approach ensures we consistently achieve extremely tight tolerances, delivering right first time solutions, every time.

At Sertec, we offer a comprehensive suite of advanced joining technologies—including robotic self-piercing riveting (SPR), robotic CO₂, spot welding, multi-head spot welding, laser welding, and clinching — to meet the diverse technical requirements of our customers. These capabilities ensure we can support a wide range of materials and assembly complexities with precision and repeatability.

What truly sets us apart, however, is our ability to act as a line integrator, delivering fully automated, end-to-end assembly systems that go beyond individual processes. We collaborate closely with our supply chain to design and implement complete solutions that seamlessly integrate stamping, welding, washing, curing, painting, and application into a single, cohesive production flow. This approach enables us to support complex assemblies and product combinations at scale, while ensuring consistent quality, reduced cycle times, and operational efficiency.

Materials: Engineered for Success

Our precision pressing and assembly expertise extends to virtually any material, allowing us to engineer bespoke components that support the diverse needs of our partners.

We specialise in advanced lightweight materials, a vital capability driven by the demands of modern industries. We take a collaborative approach, responding to customer requirements with expert advice on the feasibility, manufacturing suitability, cost effectiveness, and sustainability of materials for pressed and assembled components.

Our capability to seamlessly work with a vast range of materials for pressing, stamping and assembly offers significant advantages. We help achieve:

  • Optimised performance and lightweighting – translating into improved efficiency
  • Enhanced durability and functionality – delivering superior strength, corrosion resistance and other critical properties
  • Design flexibility and problem solving – tackling even the most complex engineering challenges

Processes: Precision Driven by Innovation

At Sertec, innovation is at the heart of our manufacturing strategy—driving performance, precision, and sustainability across every process. We are proud to operate the UK’s first aluminium and copper busbar production line, capable of delivering up to 45 million parts per annum. Every laser weld is monitored and validated using LDD (Laser Depth Detection) technology, providing customers with real-time connectivity data and assurance of weld integrity. We partnered with our customer to launch  Europe’s first high-speed automated dielectric coating line, offering advanced powder insulation technologies that meet demanding volume requirements while ensuring product reliability.

Our extensive pressing capabilities are designed for versatility and performance:

  • Aluminium panels
  • High-speed transfer pressing
  • High-speed progressing stamping
  • In-press fixings
  • Tool design & feasibility simulation

Beyond pressing, our assembly processes embrace advanced automation to deliver consistent, precise results:

  • Robotic riveting (SPR)
  • Robotic CO2 welding
  • Robotic spot welding
  • Multi-head spot welding
  • Aluminium welding
  • Laser welding
  • Clinching
  • Coating
  • Adhesive assembly
  • Laser etching

For precision, repeatability, and efficiency across all processes, we don’t just rely on automation, we engineer it.

Predictive analysis through simulation is integral to our approach, helping us to ensure the feasibility of production, and optimise every step before production begins through proof of concept, feasibility and simulation processes. These innovations in automation, paired with rigorous quality and safety checks, guarantee manufacturing quality to meet the most stringent specifications.

Tolerances

Every single pressing and assembly we produce is manufactured to exceptionally high precision, with each process meticulously engineered to meet the stringent tolerances attributed to size, connectivity, insulation properties, cleanliness or performance that our partners demand.

Achieving such fine tolerances is a testament to our dedicated research and development. We invest our focus into understanding what it takes to achieve the most demanding requirements, developing bespoke solutions. Leveraging advanced simulation software, we virtually test and refine our pressing and assembly processes, predicting material behaviour and identifying potential for deviations before any physical production begins.

This “Right First Time” approach allows us to efficiently integrate highly specialised processes directly into our assembly lines to consistently achieve the ultra-tight tolerances demanded of us.
