Overview

Making a £7 million investment, Sertec acquired and integrated a state-of-the-art 800T Nidec Arisa Press, revolutionising our stamping capabilities to meet the high-precision demands of the automotive and electric vehicles sectors.

“The installation of the 800T Nidec Arisa Press is more than just a technical upgrade—it’s a game changer for Sertec. It represents our continued commitment to investing in best-in-class equipment that supports efficiency, flexibility, and the evolving needs of our customers. We’re proud of our stamping heritage and this press builds on that legacy with future-ready capability. It’s a statement of intent: we’re backing our people, our processes, and our belief in European manufacturing.” Grant Adams

The 800T press investment supports Sertec’s core production of Body in White (BIW) components for OEM and Tier 1 customers, reinforcing our commitment to high-volume, high-precision manufacturing.

What Was Sertec’s Role?

Sertec led the transformation of its Coleshill facility with a bold £7 million investment, anchored by the installation of a state-of-the-art 800T Nidec Arisa Press. This strategic move enhances our stamping capabilities, increases production efficiency, and supports the evolving needs of our OEM and Tier 1 customers in automotive and adjacent sectors.

The press itself is a game changer—designed to operate in progression, transfer, or hybrid modes, it offers flexibility and precision. Its advanced automation and pre-set functions dramatically reduce changeover times, enabling faster coil and tool changeovers and supporting high-mix, high-volume production environments.

This investment directly aligns with key trends in the automotive sector, including:

  • Lightweighting and material efficiency, where precision stamping is critical to forming complex geometries with minimal waste.
  • Electrification, supporting the production of EV components like battery cases and busbars with tight tolerances and repeatable quality.
  • Scalable manufacturing, where flexible tooling and rapid changeovers are essential to meet fluctuating demand and model variation.

By integrating this press into our operations, Sertec reinforces its commitment to best-in-class equipment, sustainable growth, and engineering excellence—ensuring we remain a trusted partner in delivering future-ready solutions.

What Was the Biggest Engineering Challenge?

Installing a press of this scale was a feat of coordination and engineering. Delivered in 14 separate loads, the project required 160 contractors and over 16,000 hours of preparation. The challenge wasn’t just physical—it was about embedding future-ready automation and versatility into our stamping process.

How did we overcome these challenges?

Our internal teams approached it with the same grit and humility that defines Sertec. We acted with urgency and purpose. Procurement, NPI, Maintenance, engineering & operations worked side-by-side from day one—planning, problem-solving, and delivering a solution that hadn’t been done before.

What Have Been the Most Successful Elements?

  • Reduced changeover times
  • Expanded stamping versatility
  • Improved production efficiency and capacity

Looking Ahead: What’s Next?

This investment is part of a broader strategy to modernise our manufacturing processes. We’re integrating laser welding, robotic assembly, and advanced joining techniques to support next-gen components. Our engineering teams continue to work closely with OEMs and Tier 1s to deliver sustainable, high-performance solutions across sectors

This Is the Sertec Way in Action

This story isn’t just about a press—it’s about people, purpose, and progress. We invested in capability, backed our teams, and delivered with integrity. With passion and focus, Sertec continues to build for the future—for our customers, our people, and our industry.
