At Sertec, we are deeply committed to embedding circular economy principles into every facet of our business. This starts with implementing closed-loop systems for our most significant waste streams.
Our closed-loop recycling processes are most advanced for aluminium, where we ensure that all scrap is returned to the raw material mill, creating a truly circular system. Other waste products, such as cardboard, wood, and plastics, are carefully managed through our network of specialist recycling partners, with the goal of establishing fully closed loops in the near future.
We also actively promote the reuse and remanufacturing of equipment through deliberate design reviews and operational practices.
We believe that true circularity is powered by innovation.
Beyond our direct waste, we innovate in energy and water use. Our systems include heat recycling from operational by-products and advanced water recycling to minimise consumption and prevent waste.
Our Karakuri Kaizen programme is a prime example of innovating for a circular economy; enabling low-cost, energy-efficient automation and promoting the reuse and remanufacturing of equipment at the end of its lifecycle. Incorporating Karakuri features into new equipment designs helps to facilitate easier breakdown and remanufacture, extending the useful life of our assets.
This same philosophy guides our approach to our supply chain and logistics operations. We have integrated circularity into our logistics through modular and sustainable packaging solutions. Our operation design prioritises packaging that can be repaired, remanufactured, and recycled with ease, ensuring that our commitment to a circular economy extends far beyond our factory walls.
By engineering for circularity from the ground up, we not only minimise our environmental impact, but also enhance operational efficiency for a more sustainable future.
Our belief is that true sustainability is a shared responsibility, which is why we collaborate closely with our customers and suppliers to extend product life cycles and support end-of-life initiatives.
We are developing comprehensive supplier sustainability assessments, allowing us to effectively capture Scope 3 emissions and track overall Environmental, Social and Governance performances across our supply chain.
This commitment to collaboration is a two-way street. Our partners’ sustainability requirements are seamlessly integrated into our operations and passed down through our supply chain. This ensures a complete alignment with our goals, from ethical sourcing and carbon reporting, to circularity.
By working together and embracing the circular economy, we are building a more resilient, responsible, and sustainable future for our entire industry.
