A Sertec apprenticeship offers structured development programme within automotive engineering which combines hands-on experience with college-based learning, preparing you for a future career that you can be proud of.

Our scheme is built up of academic classroom studies for five days per week for the first year, then for the remaining three years the ratio moves to one day a week for academic learning with the other four days enjoying on-the-job work experience. As you progress to the second year of your programme you will get the opportunity to spend at least six weeks with each department enhancing your knowledge and gaining new skills whilst strengthening those you already possess.

In 2016 we built our very own ‘Sertec Learning Academy’ which boasts four training focus rooms, enabling us to carry out regular training from mandatory soft skills training to forklift and health and safety training.

We have a dedicated and highly professional Learning and Development team who look after all our employees from apprentices and new starters to managers and long service employees. The team is on hand to offer any advice or to seek out any further training an employee would benefit from.

“I am into my 3rd year of my Technical Engineering Apprenticeship and Sertec has enabled me to gain both a theoretical and a practical experience of engineering.  I am now studying Manufacturing engineering at foundation Degree level after achieving a Distinction grade in my Level 3 BTEC award and I have aspirations to go on and complete a full degree. As part of the apprenticeship programme you get the opportunity to compete for different awards and I have recently been named Runner-up in the “Technical Certificate Award” at EEF. The EEF have been a great support to Sertec, over many years, in the recruitment, training and development of our engineering apprentices.
