Release date: 6th January 2014

Chancellor delivers speech on day Sertec announces 400 jobs

Chancellor delivers speech at SertecChancellor of the Exchequer, George Osborne MP delivered a major speech on the economy from component manufacturer Sertec Groupís new Head Office in Coleshill, Birmingham.

Strong management, excellence in quality and performance and a determination to succeed has seen Sertec quadruple turnover to £120m in the space of 5 years. Employment has almost doubled in that period and with Sertec forecasting a turnover of £200m by 2018, Group Managing Director Grant Adams announced their intention to create a further 400 jobs in that period.

Sertec are strong believers and exponents of Apprenticeship schemes and the Chancellor had the chance to meet some of those employed by the company during his visit.

Hard work, performance and teamwork form the bedrock of business success and Sertec are delighted to have been recognised at Government level as an example of British manufacturing excellence.

Sertecís growth can, in the main, be attributed to the dramatic rise in fortunes of Jaguar Land Rover, who now manufacture award winning, world class vehicles, with exports at an all time high.

Before giving his speech, the Chancellor toured Sertecís factory floor and then formally opened the Companyís new Head Office Wincaster House, named in homage to Sertecís first factory address almost 52 years ago.

Mr Adams said ďWe are honoured to host The Chancellor for such an important speech. With the economy heading in the right direction, we are determined to drive on and contribute to the renewed rise in British manufacturing fortunes.

To support our growth plans, we have a capital commitment for plant and equipment of circa £20m, some of which we hope will be underpinned with a RGF Grant claim, which is currently under consideration in the latest round of funding.Ē
